The winery was established as a co-operative in 1959. In 2001 it joined with two other progressive, co-operative, cellars in the Campo de Borja region to become the Bodegas Borsao that we know today. They are recognised for their entry level varietals - as outstanding examples of easy-to-drink inexpensive wines - as they are for their premium wines, in particular the iconic, multi award winning Tres Picos.

Borsao Zarihs Syrah (Shiraz) is produced by one of our favourite Spanish vineyards, Bodegas Borsao. It's a powerful high-altitude Syrah made by Aussie winemaker Chris Ringland so it married new world knowledge with old world quality. Ripe aromas of black fruits, blackcurrant pastilles and a hint of coffee and vanilla greet you at the glass. The palate has wild blackberries, toasty oak and black pepper notes - all balanced by fresh acidity and a touch of dark chocolate. Try this with roasted and grilled lamb or beef, but it can also work well with pork belly and duck.

Please note: All case wine orders can take between 7-10 days for delivery.

Reviews:

Borsao Zarihs (Old Vine Shiraz) 2017: “An elegant, medium- to full-bodied red, with an underpinning of smoky mineral and flavors of baked blackberry, herbed olive and toast. Well-spiced, with creamy tannins and a lasting, fresh finish. Drink now through 2029.” 91 pts. Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator (31st July ’22)
