Widely regarded as one of the best co-operatives in the world, Cave de Turckheim is situated to the north west of Colmar in Alsace. Michel Lihrmann has been the senior winemaker for over 25 years and his style of dryer wines has been a huge hit, expressing the wonderful breadth of the Alsatian terroir and grape varieties while pushing pure fruit flavours to the fore.

Cave de Turckheim Sylvaner Vieilles Vignes wine is an unusually rich Sylvaner mellowed by maturation in acacia barrels. Acacia is interesting because it provides no typical oaky flavour but rather mellows and "softens" the acidity of the Sylvaner adding structure and some gentle floral aromas. A lightly spiced and mellow nose characterised by the perfume of the acacia wood with a rich, weighty yet refreshing palate and long zesty lemon finish. Pair with light fluffy omelettes, onion tarts, salads, gently spiced Asian cuisine. Herring Tartare with green peppers is a good match!
