There aren't many finer things in life than a chilled glass of Chablis, and for us, this is one of the finest. It's incredible. We've tried a lot worse for double the price. Domaine de la Motte Chablis Premier Cru Vau-Ligneau 'Tastevinage' however is unique, expressive and bold.  Made by the phenomenally talented Bernard Michaut, this Chablis features toasty oak and ripe, juicy mangoes on the nose, but the palate is ripe, yet with plenty of fresh chablis acidity. This will be long-lived; expect at least five years' drinking. The lieu-dit of Vauligneau (meaning little valley) is one of the more recent Premier Crus of Chablis elevated to this status for consistently producing superior quality wines. An easterly aspect affords Vauligneau a fresh quality. But the really big news is Domaine de la Motte won IWSC French Wine Producer of the Year for 2013 - yes, the year they harvested the grapes and made this wine.

Domaine de la Motte Chablis Premier Cru Vau-Ligneau has gentle citrus, sweet hay and toast on the nose, followed by taught minerality, savoury toast and more textural citrus flavours. A really neat, clean moreish Chablis with a lingering mineral finish. This is an amazing food wine that can grace any table, but it works particularly well with richer styles of fish dishes, shellfish, chicken and creamy sauces.
