Chateau Tanunda is one of the best known and best loved estates in the Barossa Valley, as well as one of the oldest. Vines were first planted here in 1845 and a winery was first established three years later. The iconic blue stone Chateau itself was built in 1890, and has been one of the Valley’s most recognised landmarks ever since. The Chateau is privately owned by the Geber family who continue a tradition of fine winemaking spanning three centuries.
Matthews Road Shiraz comes from the cool high altitude of the Eden Valley known for its plush, elegant palate. The artisinal winemaking results in a soft, velvet mouthfeel and concentrated, pure flavours from one singular pressing in a basket press.
Focused blueberry, dark chocolate and spice is framed by fine-grained tannins from 12 months maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels.
