Smalltown Vineyards The Sack Shiraz

Exactly what you want from a Barossa Shiraz. An incredible wine with tremendous depth and character. Typical deep colour, dense sweet black berry fruits on the nose, The Sack Shiraz has a lovely savoury, almost meaty, character with hints of black pepper and oak. Bright, juicy and fresh on the palate it features black cherry and plum with a meaty savouriness. Smalltown Vineyards gave this a long aging in oak which means it's really well integrated and allows the fruit to shine. Long and rich with good acidity, and toasty vanilla oak on the finish. This is drinking well now, but beneath that ripe fruit is good structure and should you wish this will age really well for a decade. Let's put it this way. We have a case of this ageing in our own personal cellar so we can't give it much more of a plaudit than this.
