De Loach Russian River Valley Chardonnay

Ever since we employed a qualified Sommelier at Kwoff, we've started to get a little bit obsessed with wines that are grown where there are cooler, foggy conditions in the morning. Mario, our sommelier has told us that cool, foggy climates allow for slow ripening of grapes which means grapes like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have the time to develop full flavour maturation. Honestly, without knowing it, out of our top 10 wines, 7 of them were grown in conditions like this!
Anyway... De Loach Russian River Valley Chardonnay. I suspect you'd like to know about this little beauty?! Well for one, it was grown in a cool foggy climate (what a coincidence!) on the Russian River that runs through Sonoma County in California. Also, the vineyard is owned by Jean-Claude Boisset, a top Burgundian Estate who since purchasing it has transformed the quality of wine from the De Loach vineyard. The result is a Californian chardonnay that is beautifully pale straw yellow in colour. The nose of immediately entices you with its rich aromas of key lime, white peach and baked apple pie. It shines in spritzy, vibrant acidity that supports a medium-bodied frame of lemon zest, kumquat and plenty of length, dotted in touches of nutmeg. It's probably in our top 5 finds this year. We love it. Pair it with your next Roast Chicken Sunday dinner. You can thank us later!
