Cline Cellars Ancient Vines Mourvedre Rose
This product is currently sold out.
Fred Cline learned a love for farming from his grandfather Valeriano Jacuzzi at their ranch in Oakley. This area in Contra Costa County was a centre for immigrants who planted some of the original grape vines. Fred set about restoring dry-farmed, head-pruned vines with roots that run deep in sandy soils. These rare vines, some well over a 100 years old, form the backbone for our Ancient Vines collection. Our Ancient Vines Mourvèdre Rosé grapes are grown in close proximity to those original vineyards but reflect newer plantings and are harvested early to deliver a bright, delicate and fruit-forward rosé.
In the wonderful tradition of rosés found in Portugal, Spain, Italy and France, the Cline Mourvèdre Rosé is perfect on its own, well-chilled. Pink salmon in colour, it shows pleasant aromas of red currant, strawberry, and fresh plum and flows onto the palate with medium-body, layers of cherry, and a hint of plum. The finish has notable freshness and length.
