A classic Austrian 'straw wine' - a dessert wine produced from raisined grapes.
The Scheurebe (Sämling 88) grapes are sourced from the 3 hectare single vineyard of Fuchsenloch. Considered one of Apetlon's best vineyards, the sandy / gravel soils here are also planted with Pinot Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvested around the start of September, the grapes are carefully laid on reed mats - where they dry for 3 months. Then the grapes are pressed and vinified. Spontaneous fermentation and maturation takes place in stainless steel. The wine is bottled at the end of the following summer.
Delicious aromas of beeswax, honey, pineapple and passion fruit. Luscious tropical fruit characters on the palate, and heady sweetness balanced by bright lime acidity - complex and appealing.
Pair with fruit salad, sorbets and other delicate fruity desserts!
