A great example of Argentinian Malbec – oodles or ripe, plummy fruit, deliciously concentrated, with spicy notes of cinnamon and black pepper. If Malbec is your thing you can't go wrong with this fab example.

Tasting Note : Warm, full, dark plum and cherry fruit on the nose and palate. The wine is velvety-textured and ripe, with smokey dark fruits, spice, hints of clove and a smooth finish.

Food Pairing : Spaghetti bolognese; grilled steak; beef burger; veggie burger; chilli con carne (or a veggie version).

More info : Originally from South West France, Malbec has become Argentina's USP. This grape variety is perfectly suited to the soils and climate here, and is producing increasingly interesting and impressive wines. If the question is, what's next for Argentina? The answer is – more Malbec! As growers are experimenting with different soil types, amount of irrigation and micro-climates, different styles of Malbec are beginning to emerge which reflect the varied terroirs of the region. This wine is produced from 40 year-old vines in the Nieto y Senetiner estate Lujan de Cuyo in the heart of Mendoza. 40% of the wine is aged in third-use French oak to bring subtle complexity to the wine without overwhelming the fruit.

Winery : First developed in 1969, Nieto y Senetiner has continued to develop and expand to become one of the country's foremost wineries. They now own vineyard parcels in most of the best sub-districts of Mendoza, and have refined their style to reflect the power and finesse that can be achieved in this region. Dynamic young winemaker, Santiago Mayorga, has taken the wines to a new level, and was named Young Winemaker of the Year in 2017 by Tim Atkin.
