Kwoff Rob is a major fan of Cab Sauv, so imagine his joy when he found out his favourite producer, BLANKbottle, also did a Cab. Well it didn't disappoint , this is right on the money. It's mainly Cabernet with a bit of Cinsault and the label shows winemaker's Pieter Walser's 9 year old son's hand, traced and painted with oil paint. But the name? Pieter's BLANKbottle business is very much a "craft" industry in the truest sense of the word. Without a huge budget, he decided to take a “creative” approach to sourcing the varietals by identifying where teams of consultants, hired by other more affluent producers, were analysing vineyards – and he tracked them. He nicknamed one team in particular "The White Gloves." Then, where they bought Cab, he bought right next to them! So thats the confession - he admits to being "the white glover chaser!" This is not what you would expect from Cabernet. It is cool, pure and a bit mineral, yet with no hint of unripe green fruit. Violets, plums and damsons shine through. It's ready now, but will keep and age beautifully.
