Bodega Garzon Viognier

Only 11 miles from the Atlantic coast, in one of the most picturesque parts of Uruguay, lies Bodega Garzon. Its land is split equally between vineyards and olive groves and the stunning views prompted consultant winemaker, Albert Antonini, to liken the region to his native Tuscany. With the Bodega Garzon Viognier Albert has utilised this stunning location to produce a wine of such quality that wouldn't be out of place if it were produced by one of the top Tuscan vineyards. Well.... all except he decided to use the French Viognier grape. Why I hear you ask? It's because latitude wise, the region is equivalent to New Zealand and is a cooler climate than Tuscany. But this wine is complex and intense, with fresh floral notes and flavours of apricot and pear. The mouthfeel of Garzon Viognier is rich and smooth. It's a real treat and as big fans of Viogniers at Kwoff, we really do love this wine. It's screaming out to be matched with Pork, and it has just enough sweetness and acidity to cut through spice, so how about trying this with slow roasted pulled pork? Or if you're in a finer dining mood, pair this with some beautiful, top quality pork belly.
