In the 1970s, four estates came together to form Castellare di Castellina: Castellare, Caselle, San Niccolo and Le Case. Together they cover a total of 80ha – including 12 planted by olive groves. The vineyards occupy 33ha on the hillsides of a natural southeast-facing amphitheater, at an average height of 370 meters above sea level. This excellent exposure to the sun, good water drainage and a mixed soil containing limestone marl, galestro and a little clay, produce well-structured, intense red and white wines, suitable for long bottle ageing.

They are traditional Tuscan producers with a very modern approach, and staunch patrons of Sangioveto (Sangiovese), unlike many other Chianti wineries who started adding French varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon during the era of Super Tuscans. They created the first experimental vineyard in Chianti, together with the University of Milan and Florence, implementing the first scientific selection of Sangioveto clones.

This wine is a soft ruby red colour with a floral bouquet and delicate hints of red fruit. It is a soft, lively, drinkable wine, to be enjoyed even chilled in summer.
