The La Battistina estate consists of 26ha of mature vineyard, including 5ha in Gavi del Comune di Gavi. The property was acquired by leading Piemonte producer Araldica in 2002, establishing their reputation as a Gavi specialist, with the largest vineyard holdings in the region. La Battistina (and the neighbouring 20ha estate of La Lancellotta, from which grapes are also sourced) are renowned as among the best sites in Gavi. The 'La Battistina' range is produced by the Araldica winemaking team, overseen by Claudio Manera and Lella Burdese's son Carlo.

The first Bricco Battistina Gavi was produced at the La Battistina estate 15 years ago. Now winemaker Carlo Manera (son of Claudio and Lella) has breathed new life into this wine. Using a selection of the estate's best grapes and oldest vines Carlo barrel-ferments part of this wine to produce a rich and complex style with great ageing potential - where the oak is not overstated but complements the elegant fruit character.

Bricco Battistina Gavi wine has aromas of citrus and stone fruit with light oaky notes. The palate has ripe orchard fruits and fresh balancing acidity - to give a complex and textural wine with perfectly integrated oak. A good match for roast chicken or pork dishes.
