Smalltown Vineyards (Formerly Magpie Estate) 'Wishbone' Shiraz Grenache (6 Bottle Case)

Another in the superstitions series ... The wishbone is broken between two people whilst each make a silent wish - the one who gets the bigger half also gets their wish (supposedly!). We liked the bony-ness of the name, the structure beneath that holds the wine altogether.
Bottled after 10 months in oak. Fruits comes from vineyards around the Barossa. The wine is partly tank fermented and partly aged in oak, with a small new oak component. The blend (75% Shiraz 15% Grenache 7% Petite Sirah 3% Carignan) is put together to be a juicy drinkable red that has some depth and complexity often missing at this price point.
Warm plum and raspberry fruit on the nose with hints of rocky earth, spice and violets. Lovely and ripe, medium to full bodied with juicy plum and raspberry on the palate also, with black cherry, spice and a lick of creamy oak. It’s a generous juicy mouthful with bags of fruit and spice, a hint of tea, good acidity too, keeping it vibrant. Sensuous and lovely.
Great with roast beef or lamb, as well as grilled meats and BBQs.
