The monastery at Kloster Eberbach (Rheingau) was established by Cistercian monks from Burgundy in 1136, bringing with them vines, expertise and laying the foundation for Pinot Noir production in Germany. Today the estate, managed by Dieter Greiner covers 200 hectares (150ha Riesling / 30ha Pinot Noir) and as a founding member of the VDP (Germany's finest estates) it’s acclaimed by journalists worldwide.
The Roseneck vineyard was first mentioned in 1200 as 'offe dem berge' (on top of the hill). Later on the vineyard was named after the roses - situated on several rocks at this site.
Kloster Eberbach Berg Roseneck Riesling Auslese is a fine Riesling from the Roseneck vineyard. Good balance of acidity, fruit, alcohol and sweetness - a perfectly harmonious Auslese with the sugar balanced by clear linear acidity, honey, barley-sugar and a fine, seductive finish. A perfect dessert wine.
