Siete Pasos La Lianta Chardonnay

Beautiful bottle, beautiful wine, La Lianta is a modern, clean and crisp Chardonnay that's a real handful. Siete Pasos make wines that represent life and friendship, with each wine a representation of a common character from their own lives. La Lianta means "The Troublemaker" and we can see why. It's really not what you would expect from a Chardonnay so this is going to upset the more traditional Chardonnay set. Instead what we have here is a well balanced, medium bodied white that is tropical fruit forward with a massive whack of sharp green apples rounded off with a little peach. As hardened Chardonnay drinkers at Kwoff, this took us some getting used to. But give it half a glass and you'll get over your preconceived idea of what this wine should have been, and start to enjoy it for what it is, which airs of the side of Verdejo, Vermentino or maybe even Alabrino rather than Chardonnay. As a result this is going to be a wine for seafood and white rice and would be a great match for sushi.
