What is Mead? Mead is an alcoholic drink of fermented honey and water! However, not all meads are created in the same manner. Known as the drink of the Gods and in modern memory, associated with the Vikings, mead is now also produced using base alcohol, white wine or sugar syrup, with honey added at a later stage.
This original recipe uses honey and molasses, with a combination of traditional Yuletide spices added at the end of the fermentation process.
This gives it a unique, festive and smoky flavour. It truly is Christmas pudding in a glass!
This mead does not like to be served cold! It’s best when served at room temperature or even warmed like a mulled wine.
This makes it an excellent cooking companion – great for marinating meat or adding to fruit cakes.
