If you've paid close attention you may notice at Kwoff we're rather partial for great wine that comes with funky labels. It's kinda our thing. So imagine how brilliant this wine must be if we've decided to stock it with a label like this! We found it at regional wine tasting event for the wine trade where there were over 1,000 different wines. This was the wine we were raving about by the end of the day. It's stunning. We then had it on our 2nd anniversary tasting in the shop which featured our favourite 8 wines of the year and it walked away with best wine of the night! Everyone loved it.
Light straw coloured with a slight green tinge, "Colle dei Tigli" Veneto IGT Bianco is a 50-50 blend of Cortese (used for Gavi) and Gargenega (used for Soave) so it's got some pedigree. You can tell just from the inviting floral aromas of peach and apple with a gentle sweet spice that this wine is going to be great. The taste doesn't disappoint. Gorgeous ripe pear, fuji apple and white peach flavours intermingle with just ever such a tiny amount of spice with that stereotypical Italian PG-esque steeliness running through the whole experience. It's full bodied for Italian white and has a great complex structure and as a result it will stand up to a variety of foods. We particularly like it with chicken with pesto wrapped in prosciutto ham.
Grapes: 50% Cortese, 50% Gargenega
