Montresor Monplaisir Rosso Veronese
This product is currently sold out.
This wine is an 'appassimento' style which is called 'Monplaisir' in homage to the Montresor family's French heritage. They left France in 1892 to settle in Verona, where they have been producing wine for over four generations.
Montresor use the 'double extraction' method to produce this wine - the must and skins are placed in steel vats, and the skins naturally separate from the liquid and rise to the surface after a few hours. Then some of the must is removed allowing fresh must to reach the skins. This gives greater skin contact, resulting in greater structure and complexity. After 15 days the wine is transferred into oak where it rests for about six months.
Deep ruby red colour with aromas of plum and sour cherry. The palate has ripe fruit with notes of spice and mocha.
Versatile red to pair with red meats, roasted vegetables, and hearty stews.
