Re di Ras (King of Ras) is the name for the wren in Marche dialect - a bird often seen in local vineyards. The wren features often in European folklore. In one of Aesop's fables there was a competition to see which bird could fly the highest. The wren perched on the back of the eagle, and when the eagle tired the wren out-flew him. The story symbolises the fact that intelligence and ingenuity can overcome strength. Monte Schiavo believe that although not noted as one of the finest or most well-known of the Italian reds, this Rosso Piceno can compete with the best! And so say all of us at Kwoff!

Aromas of wild black cherry, bramble fruit and spice. Although the palate is lush and opulent with a real savoury bite, the youthful, pure black fruit characters are balanced by subtle herbal notes and fresh acidity. The result is a complex but beautifully poised wine, with fine tannins giving elegance and weight. Delicious with game and roast meats.
