Stonestreet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley (6 Bottle Case)
This product is currently sold out.
Stonestreet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a pure refection of their high-elevation vineyard estate, showcasing the wide variety of facings, soils and fora found on its primary ridge.
Alexander Mountain Estate stands on the western ridge of the Mayacamas Mountains towering over the Alexander Valley below. High elevations (400-2,400 feet), volcanically derived soils and cooling maritime breezes give a unique location from which to pursue the quest of mountain winegrowing. Vines are planted at an approximate density of 605 to 1089 vines per acre. Block selection from all elevations is the key; the mid-mountain blocks (700-1,100 ft.) provide floral and spice aromatics, flesh and vivid red fruit while the higher blocks (1,200-2,400 ft.) offer a black mineral streak and the etched structural backbone for which this wine is so well known. Grapes are hand picked from the end of September to mid October, depending on the ripeness of each block. The sites collectively yield an average of 3.18 tones per acre with an average ripeness of 25 brix. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 15 months in small French oak barrels, of which 52% are new.
Intense cassis blackcurrant fruit with hints of pencil shavings, vanilla and flint. The palate has similar brambly fruit with cedar, spice, and a salty, granular minerality supporting a silky mouthfeel with bright fruit acidity and fresh firm tannins. The lasting finish has fresh sappy notes, more flinty minerality and hints of bitter chocolate.
Good with venison stew, pink lamb or steak au poivre.
