Tornatore Etna Rosso is a fine wine masquerading at a mid-level every day drinker price point. What the  guys at Tornatore lack in maths and accounting, they clearly make up for in winemaking talent! Seriously impressive, Etna Rosso stuck out for us at a very large trade tasting as a class above everything else under £25 in the room. Ruby red with a faint purple tinge, it's typical of this variety which is rich in colour. Oh, and about the variety, prepare yourselves to fall in love with the little known grapes of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio (no, not the coffee, there's no 'n' in it!). Crack open the bottle and you'll be greeted by aromas that demonstrate clear hints of red berries, morello cherry and black cherry. The taste is more cherries, hints of vanilla plus this wine is characterised by its balanced tannins and a surprising fullness, flavour and persistence. We are seriously impressed. Honestly, we're not sure why this wine is UNDER £15, we thought it would be £20+ when tasted. It's a new Kwoff favourite, we love it. And if you're pairing with food Tornatore Etna Rosso is an amazing wine to have with anything that is red and bloody like a perfectly cooked rare sirloin steak.
