Augustiner Helles is a refreshing long stored beer that’s mild, sparkling and relatively light. This classic Bavarian lager has fresh and fruity lemon notes giving it a pleasing citrusy flavour. Like most German beers, it’s best served cold and is brewed in accordance with the German purity laws, meaning it’s been made with just water, barley and hops. A long secondary fermentation makes for a lightly hoppy finish and an overall crisp, smooth flavour.

Helles or Hell beer is a type of German pale lager that is typically produced in the south of Germany. The word “hell” in German can be translated as bright, light or pale in English. These beers are usually full-bodied, and light in colour. They are slightly sweet with a low level of bitterness when compared to other beers. A filtering process that happens before bottling means that these beers are usually clear, although some establishments have been known to serve unfiltered versions.

With a brewery dating back to 1328, Augustiner-Bräu is the oldest brewer in Munich and the last remaining independent brewer in the historic city. 'Helles' means 'light-coloured', and Augustiner Helles lives up to its name. Pale gold, bright and effervescent, it's a fantastic example of a pale German lager. Breadiness and light malts are balanced by just a touch of hop bitterness, making this refreshing lager from Munich's oldest independent brewery crisp, clean and eminently quaffable. We thought you spelt it "Kwoffable".
