Dominio de Atauta was established in 1999 by Miguel Sanchez, a Madrid wine merchant who realised the potential of the ancient vineyards, many pre-phylloxera, in this neglected part of the Ribera del Duero near Soria. Miguel brought in Bertrand Sourdais, a young winemaker from Chinon and passionate advocate of biodynamic viticulture and the principle of terroir, who oversees both vines and winemaking - this is a place where wine is truly made in the vineyard. Within a few years, Atauta has produced some of the most individual, complex and expressive wines in Ribera.

Dominio de Atauta wine is a top-class Ribera del Duero from the region's highest and most easterly winery. Rich aromas of black cherry, plum and smoky, mocha notes. Intense, ripe fruit flavours combine with a darker, more brooding, wild character and hints of garrigue which open up in the glass. Chewy with ample ripe tannins, but also a freshness, brightness and elegance. Approachable now but should age for 5 years or more. Fantastic with roast lamb, good cuts of beef, or game.

Please note: All case wine orders can take between 7-10 days for delivery.

Dominio de Atauta, DO Ribera del Duero 2020:  "A really complete wine with beautiful fruit, precision and great balance. The oak is fine and lightly toasted so doesn’t dominate the fruit. Tannins are supple, the palate velvety." Beth Willard

"Keen and succulent: mulberry and cherry with a little bittersweet hit of blood orange and citrus pith. Complexity, and substance." David Williams

"Blackcurrant, liquorice, violets and plum compote. Muscular and concentrated with good balanced acidity and a savoury, herbal character." Diana Rollan
