The family-owned winery of Villa Raiano was established in 1996, in the village of Raiano, Campania. In 2009 a new winery was built - on top of a hill amongst vineyards and chestnut woods, overlooking the River Sabato near San Michele di Serino in the Southern Apennines.
Villa Raiano Taurasi wine is a supercharged Aglianico with deceptive finesse! Ripe and spicy with smoky, meaty notes and hints of sour cherry. Plush and powerful on the palate with spicy black fruits and hints of liquorice and dark chocolate - offset by fresh acidity. Despite its obvious power, this has deceptive finesse - fine tannins and good balance mean this will happily keep for 10-15 years but it is perfectly accessible now. A fabulous wine that will pair beautifully with richly flavoured meats including salami, lamb and game.

Villa Raiano Taurasi 2016: ” …is remarkably pretty, with violet flowers and lavender giving way to wild herbs, plums, blood orange and flowery undergrowth. It soothes with its silky textures contrasted by nervous acidity and tart red fruits that add inner tension under an air of rosy florals. There’s an unbelievable amount of energy here for such a young Taurasi, as this tapers off only lightly structured, leaving black currants and a twang of sour citrus to linger incredibly long.
