Araldica is Piemonte's most forward-thinking co-operative, situated in Castel Boglione, in the heart of Barbera d'Asti territory. Founded in 1954 by Livio Manera, father of the current Managing Director and winemaker Claudio Manera, Araldica has developed over the past 60+ years to become a major winemaking force in Piemonte, supplying wines across the globe.
A fine example of the interesting and slightly exotic Arneis variety native to the Roero region in western Piemonte. Once on the point of extinction but now happily resurrected Alasia Roero Arneis is a rich, dry white with ripe pear fruit, almond and tropical notes. The palate is plump, soft and expressive, with stone fruit and baked apple characters, an attractive texture, and a nutty, herbal finish. Try with a flavoursome seafood risotto topped with fresh basil and or fish such as trout, monkfish and snapper cooked in ginger and coriander. Best drunk young.
