A beautiful Malbec sourced from high quality blocks in Agrelo and Uco valley. Benchmark Malbec which treads the balance of modern and traditional perfectly. Pretty yet serious.
The vineyard is 3,083 feet above sea level, grapes are grown on 25 year old vines in the Lujan de Cuyo district of Mendoza, close to Walter’s bodega in the rain-shadow of the Cordon del Plata. The unwooded Malbec is blended with 10% of Walter’s own Monteagrelo Malbec 2012, which is the wooded component. Walter bought two new 25000-litre steel tanks specifically for this project and subsequently somehow crow-barred them into his bodega. Grapes were harvested by hand. Walter Bressia's aim was to produce wine that reflects the true essence of his unique terroir. A blend of 5 parcels. Fermentation took place between 25-27°C. 80 of the blend is aged for 18 months in French and American oak. There was no filtration and no fining.
Bodega Bressia Monteagrelo Malbec is pure and powerful, yet elegant and aromatic, this is a deeply compelling Malbec. This exhibits beautiful bright violet aromas, ripe black fruits and hints of iodine. Plum and cherry fruit aromas combine with leather and spice notes with hints of violet. The rich plum, cherry, sweet spice, liquorice and violet aromas on the nose are reflected on the palate along with layers of mineral, fruit and savoury notes, with balanced acidity to deliver a long finish. Very more-ish! Absolutely singing ‘of place’.
The perfect match with steak, rolled lamb and even Lancashire Hotpot...

Bressia Monteagrelo Malbec, Valle de Uco 2021; A pleasingly dark and sweetly spiced cacao essence. Exhibiting elegance with ripe dark fruits, exotic spices, and earthy tones, it’s a more traditional yet well-executed example. 90Pts Decanter Magazine (May ’24)
The 2021 Malbec Monteagrelo is sources from Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley in Mendoza. Aged for 12 months in French oak foudres, this purple-red wine presents aromas of violets, plum and herbs, with a subtle oak layer. Dry, rich and plush, the velvety tannins and juicy flow culminate in a flavourful finish. This is a Mendoza Malbec at its best. 91 Pts Joaquin Hidalgo – Vinous
