Established in 1993 by Tino Colla (brother of the legendry Beppe Colla) and his niece Federica, Poderi Colla is very much a family affair and continues the Colla family's three centuries of winemaking heritage in northern Italy. Tino and Federica believe in a non-interventionist approach to winemaking, to give each wine a unique expression of site and vintage, and they take sustainability and the environment as seriously as their wines. The wines are balanced, rich and complex.
Poderi Colla have a long history of high quality Dolcetto production. This bright and fruity food-friendly wine is from their Cascine Drago estate in Alba - the younger sibling to Bricco del Drago.
Dolcetto d’Alba ‘Pian Balbo' wine has a lovely nose of plum, cherry, violet, sweet spice and dried herbs. The palate has lots of fresh fruit flavours, including sour cherry and plum with refreshing acidity. The mouthfeel is crunchy and vibrant with a firm, dry and savoury finish - great served with food, perhaps lightly chilled. A perfect match for Italian meat-based pasta dishes, carpaccio of beef and lightly grilled meats.
