Sileni Estates was born from a long-standing interest in wine by Graeme Avery. In late 1997, along with financial director Chris Cowper and winemaker Grant Edmonds, he established Sileni as an export-oriented producer, committed to crafting world-class fine wines. The winery is named after the Sileni who featured in Roman mythology alongside Bacchus, the God of Wine. They celebrated good wine, good food and good company; to us here at Kwoff, the holy trinity. The vineyards and winery are based near Hastings, Hawke’s Bay - the oldest wine region in New Zealand - on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

Grown on a variety of soil types including gravels, silt and loam which provide depth and complexity of flavour. A small portion of the blend is aged in French oak barriques. 40% underwent malolactic fermentation to introduce some creaminess and complexity.

Sileni Cellar Selection Chardonnay, Hawke’s Bay has citrus and nectarine flavours backed up with sweet oak and lees stirred complexity. It is made in an early drinking style, but will comfortably cellar for the next 2-3 years. Ideal pairing for seafood, chicken, salads.... A lovely drop of Hawke's Bay Chardonnay and a very versatile wine!
