Rocco Pasetti's superbly sited 30 hectare estate lies in the heart of the Collecorvino district in the hills northwest of Pescara, recognised as one of the best vineyard zones in Abruzzo. The cellar was completed in 2004 - carved into the hillside. The Contesa wines are impeccably made expressions of Abruzzo's local grapes - modern and easy to drink, yet wines of real substance.

We love the Caparrone Montepulciano d'Abruzzo at Kwoff. It's easily one of the best Montepulcianos we've found for under a tenner a bottle. Why do we like it so much? Well, it's a great combination of rich, spicy, robust flavours with fresh and approachable fruit. Basically, it's a great easy drinker that never makes it through the hour whenever we crack open a bottle!! When you pour this wine into your glass, you are immediately struck by the deeply-coloured red with aromas of violets and ripe black fruit. The taste is warm and generous with attractive black cherry fruit, wild plum, firm tannins and good length. We know for sure this goes particularly well with pork and leek sausages from our local butcher, onion gravy and mash! A proper 'tea' as we say up north.....
