Castel del Lupo, in the heart of Oltrepò Pavese, dates back centuries - and includes the Eighteenth-century Palazzo Pegazzera. In 1974 three entrepreneurs took over this historic estate and began a regeneration process. Giovanni Doglio, whose father and grandfather were both Piemontese winemakers, has over 40 year’s experience managing wineries. Recently joined by his daughter Federica, he has worked tirelessly to develop the estate. The vineyards are now certified organic.
Castel del Lupo Pinot Nero 'Della Quercia' [Organic] wine is a delicious organic, unoaked, Pinot Noir from a small plot of 15 year old vines on the rolling hills of Oltrepo Pavese. A bright and fresh style with open berry fruit aromas and gently floral notes. Lively acidity offsets the ripe wild plum fruit and the palate combines concentration, delicacy and structure. A great match with sea fish, such as sea bass.
