Caccialepre Rosso Piceno, Tenute Pieralisi (6 BOTTLE CASE DEAL)
Italy
This product is currently sold out.
A rich, warm and chocolatey style of Rosso Piceno - a Montepulciano-dominated wine sourced from the small, south facing Colle del Sole vineyard. No one needs a Rosso Piceno, but everyone needs a wine like this.
The Montepulciano and Sangiovese vines are planted in the central part of the Colle del Sole hill, across 4 hectares. The Sangiovese grapes were harvested in mid-September, and Montepulciano around a month later. After a careful grape selection the must was fermented in stainless steel. Alcoholic fermentation took 26 days, with the first 20 on the skins. After malolactic fermentation the wine was aged in large oak barrels for around 12 months.
Tasting notes
Lifted aromas of bright blackberry and cranberry. The palate has ripe bramble fruit, and is rich yet juicy with fresh black fruit characters, velvety tannins and notes of 'fruit and nut' chocolate and spice.
Food match
A good match for tomato-based dishes, such as a simple pasta al pomodoro.
