The Bertin family have produced wine in Bordeaux since 1742, with estates in three appellations - Château Cardinal (Montagne Saint-Émilion), Le Clos de L'Hermitage (Lalande de Pomerol) and Château Dallau (Bordeaux Supérieur) - mainly planted with Merlot, together with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Under Mme Yvette Bertin who works with her grand-daughter Sarah Boireau, the aim is to produce full bodied, mellow and balanced wines by bringing fresh expertise to ancient traditions.
Château Cardinal, Montagne Saint-Émilion wine is the most prestigious satellite of Saint-Émilion. Deep ruby colour, with ripe fruit on the nose and a mellow, lightly tannic structure with spicy notes. A full-bodied, well-balanced wine with a seductive finish. Pair with grilled beef steak or hard cheeses.
