Château Coulon vineyards lie in the hills of Corbières. Round pebble stones deposited by the river Orbieu carpet vineyards through which refreshing winds assist in the organic management of the vineyard (as well as carrying the evocative scent of the surrounding garrigue). Wines are fully certified organic; the Château is owned by siblings Louis and Marie Fabre who were early pioneers of organic viticulture in the Languedoc.
Château de Luc, AOP Corbières organic wine is a concentrated and savoury red from the deep south of France. This Corbières shows intriguing savoury and herbal aromas of bitters and thyme. The palate is full of morello cherry fruit and carries through more woody, savoury flavours to the finish. A delight! Fantastic with charcoal-grilled lamb or goat, caught on the edges yet still pink, rosemary potatoes and green salad.
"A riot of ripe raspberries and black pepper. Juice jazz jack-in-the-box. I love the wide-arm welcome of the wine, the effervescent energy, the exuberance. It’s a wine that is singing the soprano of the fruit song, but rooted to its place in the long strands of ink-dust baritone and winter-soil-stones tenor of the tucked-in tannins."
