The region of Jura in eastern France is fast becoming one of the country’s most exciting winemaking areas. It’s here in the commune of Grozon that Domaine Désiré Petit was established in 1932 by Désiré Petit, who planted just under 1.5 hectares on the Côte de Feule. Since then the vineyard area has increased significantly to 27 hectares and the Domaine is run by the third generation of the Petit family, Damien and Anne-Laure. As well as making outstanding examples of the local Vin Jaune from the Savagnin grape, the Domaine also makes a rich and floral Crémant du Jura.
Domaine Désiré Petit, Crémant du Jura Brut wine is a credible champagne alternative with a fine mousse. This is rich, floral and deeply satisfying. Made only from Chardonnay, this is a serious and elegant Crémant du Jura. On the nose it is creamy. On the palate well balanced with good depth and classic champagne toasted brioche flavours and creamy notes evident again, giving this complex wine an appealing softness. As would be the case with a classic champagne this crémant works perfectly as an aperitif but is also well suited to shellfish and fish dishes.
