Working with vines old and new across the Cape, Kleine Oranjerie captures the Cape’s marvellous menagerie of vines in a glass. They are fortunate to source fruit from exceptional sites, from their farm in Franschhoek to the farthest-flung blocks of the Western Cape. All their wines are gently pressed and naturally-fermented the better to express the unique personality and provenance of the wines. They champion old vineyards over 35 years old, some indeed planted in the 1900s. Beneath the mighty dome of the Cape’s wild weather they finesse their wild ferments. Welcome to the small world of Kleine Oranjerie.
Kleine Oranjerie Flora and Fauna Sauvignon Blanc wine is produced from Elgin fruit. Soft pressing then settled for 48 hours. Naturally fermented in stainless steel tanks and kept on the gross lees for 5 months. This is a vibrant cool climate style of Sauvignon with intense citrus and crushed nettle aromas. Ripe, concentrated fruit is offset by a grapefruit tang and leafy characters. Taut and mineral with a long, textural finish. Enjoy with simply cooked sea bass with a salsa verde, lemon roasted chicken or aromatic Thai dishes.
