Peter Lehmann established his namesake winery in 1979, driven in large part by a desire to support Barossa growers during a crippling grape oversupply at the time. The wine from the first vintage in 1980 was called ‘The Futures’ in a nod to the commitment Peter made to paying the growers once he had sold the wine. This arrangement was sealed with a handshake and Peter’s word was his bond. True to his promise, when the money started coming in, Peter made sure to pay his growers first.

Peter Lehmann Hill & Valley Shiraz wine is a very considered, plush Shiraz with the deep core fruit of Barossa Valley classics. An absolute go-to Shiraz for any wine list or shelf.

The grapes are picked in the cool of the early morning and crushed immediately into stainless steel fermenters where they ferment steadily for 7-10 days. After pressing off skins, the wine is then matured in new and older French oak hogsheads for 12 months prior to blending, fining, filtration and bottling. With robust, integrated tannin this wine could mature in the bottle for ten+ years.

Peter Lehmann Hill & Valley Shiraz has notes of plum, raspberry, violet flower, blueberry, mocha and a hint of spice on the nose.  On the palate its fresh blueberry fruit with lots of plum, dark cherries and young blackcurrant fruits. A long fine tannin structure throughout gives an excellent backbone to this food friendly style. A perfect accompaniment to Steak Tartare or grilled Chorizo.

Please note all case wines can take up to 7 days for delivery.
