The Salford Rum Company is a celebration of the history, heritage and people of Salford Docks throughout the late 1800's and early 1900's. During this era, Salford Docks grew to be the third largest port in the UK, and amongst the industrial imports of the time, were rums, fruits and spices from the Caribbean.
The Salford Rum Company Rum & Black -
The story behind Rum & Black
When Salford Rum launched in 2018 they would hand deliver orders around Salford and Greater Manchester. Their early customers would tell great stories of them, their parents and grandparents working on the docks and about the rums and the other imports. These customers would time and time again mention one drink: Rum & Black.
What is Rum & Black?
Typically a blend of rum with blackcurrant cordial or crème de cassis, Rum & Black was enjoyed down the working men’s clubs around the docks and throughout Salford.
This is their take on a classic. The drink of the dockworkers.
Crafted at The Dirty Old Town Distillery in small batches and produced with locally sourced blackcurrants from The Promise Co. to deliver a smooth, sweet and moreish blackcurrant liqueur with a warming rum hit.
